Industry First, a dedicated toll free number 1800 420 8282 to buy new Photon Plus connection

  • A first-of-its-kind industry initiative that offers instant purchase and delivery of Photon Plus from the comfort of home or office
  • Offers an ubiquitous IVR platform and an easy and secured payment gateway process

Hyderabad, January 15, 2010: Introducing a convenient method of purchasing Photon Plus, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), India’s fastest-growing pan-India dual-technology telecom service provider, has announced the launch of industry first ‘Call and Buy’ service exclusively for Photoners. A dedicated toll free number 1800 420 8282 will guide the customer on every aspect of the product from enquiry, current offers and purchase to home delivery.

The new Call and Buy medium is safe and secure medium of transaction for customers as it ensures the security consideration of online shopping by using telephone IVR payment gateway, wherein the customer instead of revealing their credit card details on a call, types it through their own phone. The typed credit card details are received in the form of dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) which cannot be deciphered by human ear thus reducing the risk of fraud and illegitimate transactions.

“At Tata Teleservices service delivery and customer delight has always taken the center stage in any product life cycle management. By launching an industry first initiative, Call and Buy Photon Plus, we are once again ensuring that customers are benefited first and get the superior quality product information, purchase mechanism and service delivery from the comfort of their home or offices,” said Mr. S Ramakrishna, Regional COO- AP & Orissa Circle, Tata Teleservices Limited.

Photon Plus is a Mobile wireless broadband service that offers speeds upto 20 times faster than any existing mobile wireless technology allowing customers to stay connected ubiquitously. It enables Photoners to access to e-mails, social networking, download and upload large files, photo sharing, etc on the fly.

Nokia E72 review

Author: John Abraham | Filed under: GSM | CDMA | 3G, News | Featured | Hot Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Nokia E72 is one of those handsets everybody is talking about long before their release. There may be nothing much to talk about – after all everyone knows what to expect of the Eseries and they have never let us down. But still, savoring the next batch of Eseries steel is always a pleasure.

The Finns keep feeding business ammo to the market and there’s nothing out of the usual at first sight. We already tasted the new Eseries generation and the E52 and E55 were the usual good healthy meals. The E72 though needs to be nothing short of delicious.

Nokia E72 official photos

There’s no need to tell you the Nokia E72 walks and talks business. The big one though has greater responsibility to carry. We guess the E72 will not fear being judged against the best messengers in its class. But it will certainly look back to a haunting shadow within its own family. The Nokia E72 can certainly go where the E71 would not venture. But it’s not only the equipment (of which the E72 has aplenty) that makes a winner.

Key features:

  • Quad-band GSM support
  • 3G with HSDPA 10.2Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps
  • Landscape 2.36″ 16M-color display of QVGA resolution
  • Comfortable full QWERTY keypad
  • Optical trackpad on the D-pad
  • Symbian 9.3 OS, S60 UI with FP2
  • 600 MHz ARM 11 CPU and 128 MB of SDRAM
  • 5 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UPnP technology, DLNA support
  • Built-in GPS receiver, A-GPS support, digital compass
  • Accelerometer for turn-to-mute
  • 250 MB of internal memory, microSD expansion, ships with a 4GB card
  • Standard 3.5mm audio jack
  • Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support and microUSB v2.0
  • FM radio with RDS
  • Remote Wipe
  • Great battery life
  • Office document editor (including MS Office 2007)
  • User-friendly Mode Switch for swapping two homescreen setups
  • Smart dialing
  • Full Flash support
  • Great audio output quality
  • Lifetime Nokia Messaging subscription

    Main disadvantages:

  • Optical trackpad is not as handy as we’d like
  • Limited camera features, no geotagging, video recording maxes out at VGA@15fps
  • No DivX or XviD support (can be enabled, possibly requiring a purchase)
  • No TV-out functionality
  • No dedicated camera key (trackpad compensates for that)
  • Poor loudspeaker performance

Eseries are always trying to get more skills on their resume. But the one that’s supposed to be the next big thing in its class is really pushing it. Nokia didn’t have to try and experiment with the E72. Build muscle on the E71 was their main objective. And by the looks of it they did more than well. The E72 promises richer experience and superior skill. But it will still be expected to deliver more than the sum of its parts if it wants to prove anything to the standard-setting E71.

The Eseries spirit is all there – and we guess in-house competition is always in the picture. The E72 is bold and impressive, but manages to keep its cool too, as befits a conservative business handset. Armed and dangerous or polite and elaborate – the E72 will be whatever you want it to be. So, make up your mind, and take the jump. We’re unboxing and feeling the cold Eseries steel in our hands.

Google launches its first mobile: Nexus One

Author: John Abraham | Filed under: GSM | CDMA | 3G, News | Featured | Hot Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

San Francisco: Internet search giant Google has unveiled its first mobile phone and increased the pressure on Apple’s iPhone in a mobile market that many analysts predict will come to dominate the internet in the coming years.

Google’s Nexus One is also called iPhone killer by many analysts. Nexus One beats iPhone in many criterias such has camera and pricing. In terms of pricing plans in the U.S for unlimited usage, Apple’s iPhone cost $3,780 over 24 months as compared to Google’s Nexus one $2,580, almost 50 percent more, according to Tech Crunch.

Google said it would sell the phone from its website for $530 and will ship the phones to the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. Customers can also buy a subsidized device together with two-year service plans for $180, from the top U.S. carrier Verizon, as well as fourth-placed carrier T Mobile.

“The Nexus One belongs in the emerging class of devices which we call ‘superphones,’ with the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset making it as powerful as your laptop computer of three to four years ago. It’s our way to raise the bar on what’s possible when it comes to creating the best mobile experience for consumers,” said Andy Rubin, Vice President of Engineering, Google. “We look forward to working with handset manufacturers and operators to bring more phones to market through this channel worldwide.”

Lets take a look at technical specifications of this phone. The phone has 3.7″ AMOLED 480×800 WVGA display and weighs 130g. Camera is quite impressive with 5 megapixel auto focus with flash and geo tagging. It has a 512MB Flash, 512MB RAM memory and comes with a 4GB removable SD card. Memory can be extended upto 32 GB. In terms of audio, it has a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack with four contacts for inline voice and remote control.

It also has the typical Android features like Google Maps Navigation, Email, Phone book, Android Market and Quick Contacts. The phone also has a voice-enabled keyboard for all text fields. User can speak a text message, instant message, tweet, Facebook update, or complete an email. User can also record Hi-Res MPEG4 video, and then upload to YouTube with one click.

Google previously released its Android operating system for phones, which has been adopted by manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola and HTC. But the Nexus One is the first device to be branded by Google and sold directly to customers.

“The Nexus One represents the unique combination of design and innovation two companies like Google and HTC can have when they collaborate,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “The Nexus One continues HTC’s strategy of offering people a portfolio of phones that meet their diverse needs.”
